About Us

The Mississippi Animal Rescue League is a 501-C-3 non-profit organization that for over 40 years has dedicated itself to the prevention of cruelty to animals. MARL is supported solely by donations and receive no city, state or federal funds.

We are an "Open door" shelter, which means that we never turn any animal away. We are here for all those that are injured, sick, alone, lost and in need of sanctuary and a loving home.

In 2008, we received over 16,000 animals at a cost of over $800,000. While the majority of our animals are dogs and cats, we also received many horses, goats, and donkeys. In the past fifteen years we have received an assortment of wild animals; one tiger, about five cougars, seven monkeys, three apes and we have lost count of the number of birds, rabbits, hamsters and snakes that have come through our doors. Lets not forget the two alligators.

During the past 40 years, we have become the place where any animal can find safe shelter, medical treatment and abundant loving care. For the first time, MARL has a full-time veterinarian on staff, which allows us to save even more animals.

We are the largest full-service animal shelter in our community, providing low cost spay/neuter for people on low fixed incomes, educational classes, cruelty investigation, and act in a advisory capacity to many law enforcement agencies.

The Mississippi Animal Rescue League speaks for those that have no voice and we speak loud and clear. At MARL the animals come first.

Won't you open your heart and help the animals? They are counting on you. Each donation helps us save lives. Please send your donations to: MARL, 5221 Greenway Drive Jackson, MS 39204 or click the GuideStar button above.

On behalf of the animals "Thank you".
